WDC 2028 Busan Pavilion International Design Competition

Busan Metropolitan City and Design Council Busan — South Korea
Architecture competition visual

Busan Metropolitan City and Design Council Busan are looking for a design language for World Design Capital Busan 2028 rather than a single building. Entrants propose an integrated pavilion system made of a fixed pavilion and a mobile pavilion with a shared identity, and must show how the mobile pavilion adapts to at least three settings, such as urban plazas, coastal waterfronts and event venues. The competition is open to domestic and international companies, organisations and sole proprietors working in design, architecture, spatial, exhibition and environmental design, service and experience design, modular systems or fabrication; joint entries are permitted. Stage 1 is an anonymous concept proposal, open from 2 October 2026 (09:00 KST) to 26 October 2026 (17:00 KST). Two teams advance to a roughly four-week Stage 2 design development phase, after which one winning team is chosen. Winning does not guarantee later fabrication or installation contracts: detailed design, fabrication and installation are planned for 2027 and will be procured separately.
