AIA Small Project Award 2027

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) — United States
Architecture competition visual

The AIA Small Project Award raises public awareness of the value and design excellence architects bring to projects of any size or budget. There are four categories: small constructions, objects, works of environmental art or architectural design elements up to $250,000 in construction cost; small project construction up to $2.5 million; projects under 5,000 square feet; and unbuilt projects meeting any of those limits, including speculative, conceptual, competition or student work. Projects may be located anywhere in the world but must have been designed by a U.S.-licensed architect and, if completed, finished after 1 January 2021. Every entry must identify an AIA Architect member in good standing as the submitting architect, and each firm may submit up to four entries. Submissions opened on 28 August 2026 and are due by 5pm ET on 3 November 2026, with no extensions; the AIA expects to announce recipients in May 2027.
