Vancouver Tall Challenge 2026

The Vancouver Tall Challenge: Building Higher Downtown is organized by Buildner in collaboration with the City of Vancouver and the University of British Columbia's School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA). It forms part of the city's Higher Buildings Policy Review, inviting architects, designers, planners, and creative thinkers to imagine how taller buildings can support a more vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive downtown Vancouver. The competition is open to all backgrounds, with no professional qualification required, and includes dedicated Student and Sustainability Awards alongside the main placings.

Entry fee
Advanced tier (16 Jul – 9 Sep 2026): €52 per installment, payable as a single payment or in 3 monthly installments; Last Minute tier (10 Sep – 29 Oct 2026): €55 per installment, plus 4.5% VAT; registration closes 29 October 2026
Award / prize
$15,000 CAD total: 1st place $7,000, 2nd place $4,000, 3rd place $2,000, Student Award $1,000, Sustainability Award $1,000, plus 6 honorable mentions
