International Furniture Design Competition Asahikawa 2027 (IFDA 2027)

Now in its 13th edition since launching in 1990, the International Furniture Design Competition Asahikawa (IFDA) is one of Japan's longest-running furniture design competitions, hosted by the historic furniture-making city of Asahikawa in Hokkaido. Open to designers worldwide, IFDA 2027 asks entrants to create newly conceived, previously unpublished wooden furniture around the theme "Origin," judged by a panel led by chief judge Jin Kuramoto and including Ronan Bouroullec, Cecilie Manz and Tsuyoshi Tane. Across its previous 12 editions the competition has received more than 10,000 entries from 79 countries, and over 50 winning designs have gone on to commercial production in Japan and abroad.
